Molub-Alloy GP Oils are multiservice lubricants in six ISO viscosity grades. Their high performance is intended
to produce cost savings in the broadest range of industrial applications.
Accounting for potential savings in maintenance costs is the excellent film strength of the base oils plus the
load-carrying/antiwear characteristics attributed to the Molub-Alloy lubricating solids in stable suspension. Builtin stability and potentially lower operating temperatures can offer additional savings in extending lubrication
cycles and oil change intervals in reservoirs and circulation systems.
Critical among the diverse needs to general plant lubrication is the continuous and often severe service in air
compressors. Molub-Alloy GP Oils, in the appropriate viscosity grades, possess those characteristics essential to
clean and safe compressor operation.
DESCRIPTION
Molub-Alloy GP Oils are manufactured from
petroleum base oils selected to meet the most critical
requirements of industrial applications. including
excellent viscosity-pressure (load) relationship and a
low residual carbon content.
Metallic lubricating solids that have a natural affinity
for metal surfaces and are of select grade and size
are specially treated to remain effectively dispersed
throughout the extended life of the oil.
These oils are additionally compounded to inhibit
oxidation and to protect against rust and corrosion.
GP Oils are further inhibited against foaming.
Molub-Alloy GP Oils are part of Castrol Performance
Lubricants’ Eco-SolutionsTM product offering.
Formulated to address environmental concerns, they
are free of lead, chlorinated solvents, barium,
antimony, zinc, and contain less than 2 ppm phenol.
APPLICATION
Molub-Alloy GP Oils are for use in a broad range of
industrial applications including machine tools,
circulation systems, and gear boxes where non-EP
gear oils are specified (see Notes).
Industries with many machine tools find lubricant
consolidation saves in inventory costs and reduces
errors in application. The stability built into GP Oils
can, in many cases, extend reservoir change intervals
and reduce consumption in all-loss applications.
Molub-Alloy lubricating solids provide additional safety
in extending intermittent applications.
Appropriate viscosities of GP Oils are particularly
suited to air compressor operation. Not only is their
potential for carbonaceous deposits negligible, but
they protect against cylinder wear with minimal
applications of oil.
ADVANTAGES
Multiservice lubricating oils for general industry make
inventory reduction cost savings possible.
Additional wear protection of lubricating solids can
extend the service life of machines. Lower friction,
reduced heat generation, and energy savings are also
made possible by lubricating solids, particularly with
frequent start-up, slow speeds, and where high and
unexpected loads are encountered.
Compressors operate more cleanly and safely. GP
Oils reduce carbon deposits which can be a source of
compressor fires and explosions.
Overall savings are derived from the above and result
from less labor and downtime, smoother, more
efficient operation, with longer parts life and extended
lubrication cycles.
NOTES
Molub-Alloy GP Oils should not be used in conjunction
with diatomaceous earth or any adsorbent, active-type
filters. Size filters need only their recommended
inspection and service.
When changing over from conventional oils to GP
Oils, a thorough cleanout of any carbonaceous
deposits is recommended. Natural dispersency in
Molub-Alloy products has been seen to free such
deposits even on compressor valves. In circulation
systems and reservoirs, this dispersency might require
early attention to filters.
Molub-Alloy GP Oils are not rated as extreme
pressure (EP) or as compounded gear oils according
to AGMA Classifications.
